A couple of new things:

• When you view a product page, you can hover your mouse over the picture and it will automatically zoom!
• Search suggestions automatically show products in the search bar as you type.
• A new Guide to Getting Help page, which we’ve put together showing you different ways you can get help from others!
• You now have the option to leave reviews for zines! Just go to the product page and post away!

There will be more, trust me. We’ve also got some new zines coming up!

First and foremost, most of you spoke about how the purpose of the site (to promote happiness!) and the actual store didn’t seem to go hand in hand very well. Although I think the store is great in attracting people who otherwise wouldn’t have been interested in mental health, a lot of you wanted more of the mental health aspect. I agree, so we will be putting a stronger focus on the zines and related content! Don’t worry – we’ll still feature all kinds of products from lots of varied artists!

Secondly, we’ll be trying to reach as many people as we can – everyone has mental health, but not everyone has constant internet access or knows where to go for resources. We’ll be visiting craft shows, fairs, and other events – maybe we’ll even have a print catalog!

There’s also going to be a new look! It’s not going to be completely revamped, but something a little different to suit our new focus.

First up are some super cute and super colourful sketchbooks and note cards by eef-ink! Erin at eef-ink uses paper, cardstock, and archival-quality ink to hand stamp each book and card. We also have a zine by John Bobst, aka The Force of Nature. He’s an interesting character who wrote a perzine called An Unedited Mind, which talks about his various thoughts and experiences over a period of three months. A lot of it talks about dealing with bipolar disorder, feeling alone, and falling in love with the wrong girl. I find it a refreshing and interesting read to crawl into his brain and read his thoughts. Mental Health America has been celebrating May as Mental Health Month since 1949 and are introducing this year’s theme as “Live Your Life Well.” The amazing part about all of this is their program based on the Live Your Life Well theme, which provides 10 extremely helpful tips to help you well, live your life well! Their 10 tools and more information can be found at their website, liveyourlifewell.org, which is definitely worth checking out.

To help bring strength to your life, we will be working on each of these 10 tools throughout the month of May and documenting them in this blog. We encourage you to do the same and tell us about it! So uh, I’m Nita. The idea of Fluxxii was created last summer with several other people who all eventually dropped out of the project, so I pretty much run this thing singlehandedly. It’s a good way to combine something I love + something I care about, but something similar happened in real life so I took a break from Fluxxii to work on that instead. It’s been almost a year and things are finally coming to life! (Finally, right?)  And to be honest, that’s all I have for you right now!
